“2 Days & 1 Night” Non-manner Vs “Knowing Bros” Rudeness: Controversies Over Mannerism In Variety Shows
On the Oct 6th episode, “2 Days & 1 Night” concluded with a “Manner Mission”. The members were observed as they passed by the youngest writer struggling to carry two heavy watermelons.
The results were unexpected. Only Moon Se Yoon offered to help the writer, asking with genuine concern, “Where are you carrying these heavy things to?” However, new members Jo Se Ho, Lee Joon, along with Kim Jong Min, DinDin and Yoo Seon Ho, all walked past without helping, which caused an uproar after the broadcast.
After watching the footage, the members were shocked. Jo Se Ho claimed he “couldn’t remember” the moment and expressed regret, “I took pride in having good manners, but why did I do that?” Lee Joon, on the other hand, tried to justify his behavior, “It was such a short distance, so helping might have seemed intrusive.”
While the scene was played for laughs on the show, viewers reacted negatively, criticizing the members’ attitudes toward the staff. In response to the backlash, the production team removed the clip from YouTube and other platforms.
Viewers voiced opinions such as, “If someone is carrying something heavy, you should naturally offer help.” Some added “They might have genuinely not noticed, but the excuses were disappointing“, criticizing the members’ actions.
On the other hand, Lee Jin-ho‘s rude remarks on JTBC’s “Knowing Bros” are also being re-examined belatedly.
In a recent episode where actor Bae Hyun-sung appeared as a guest, Bae gave the show’s cast members a quiz that said, “I made an unforgettable mistake while working as a part-timer in high school,” and as soon as he heard this, Lee Jin-ho mentioned Bae’s role as a student who impregnated his girlfriend in the drama “Our Blues” and shouted, “You had a child in the drama.”
Another cast member, Seo Jang-hoon, was angry at Lee’s rude remark, saying, “Are you crazy or what?” and Kang Ho-dong also advised with a rather firm expression, saying, “If you can’t do this, take a break.”
Netizens pointed out the rude acts and remarks of the cast members and At the same time blamed the production team for their lack of responsibility as they did not edit the scene out.
