Especially when reaching a certain status, celebrities often prove their worth by purchasing high-value houses with cash.
Let’s take a look at some celebrities who purchased expensive houses without taking out loans.
1. Lim Young-woong
Lim Young-woong purchased a Mecenatpolis penthouse in Mapo-gu, Seoul for 5.1 billion won in September last year.
This penthouse was considered the apartment with the highest increase in value in Seoul last year.
According to experts, the absence of a separate mortgage suggests that Lim Young-woong paid the full amount in cash.
Mecenatpolis is famous as the “Tower Palace of Gangbuk” and “celebrity apartment”.
2. Jennie
On Nov 14th, it was revealed that Jennie purchased a luxury villa in Hannam-dong with cash.
The villa is in “LaTerrace Hannam”, located within UN Village in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The villa purchased by Jennie has an area for exclusive use of 244.97㎡ (74 pyeong), with 5 rooms and 3 bathrooms.
This place is famous for being the residence of SHINee’s Key.
3. Jun Ji-hyun
Jun Ji-hyun jointly purchased a house worth 13 billion won with her husband.
It is speculated that the purchase was made entirely in cash, considering the absence of mortgage loans.
The purchased house is in Acro Seoul Forest, located in Seongsu-dong 1-ga, Seongdong-gu, Seoul.
Jun Ji-hyun also became a multiple homeowner with an estimated total value of real estate holdings ranging from 140 to 150 billion won.
4. IU
IU also acquired a luxurious villa in the 13 billion won range.
The villa is located in “Eterno Cheongdam”, a high-end apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This area is known for not allowing loans when purchasing homes, suggesting IU paid the entire amount in cash.
Eterno Cheongdam is a well-known apartment where actor Song Joong-ki purchased a unit for about 15 billion won.
5. BTS’s RM and Jimin
BTS members RM and Jimin purchased a high-end residence called “Nine One Hannam” in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul in 2021.
Both of them bought their units with cash, without taking out loans.
RM purchased a unit with an area for exclusive use of 244.34㎡ (about 74 pyeong) for 6.36 billion won, while Jimin bought a similar-sized unit for about 5.9 billion won.
The difference in prices is attributed to the presence or absence of a terrace.
