Public attention is drawn to the rumor of Shinsegae Group’s granddaughter debuting in the new girl group under The Black Label
According to the music industry on February 6th, photos of Moon, the granddaughter of Chairman Lee Myung-hee and the eldest daughter of Shinsegae’s President Jung Yoo-kyung, who runs Shinsegae Department Store, with other The Black Label trainees spread in online communities, becoming a hot topic.
Born in 2002, Moon is a talented student at the prestigious Columbia University in the US, and she has more than 70,000 followers on Instagram. There are several cases of children of famous singers making their debut as idol group members, but it is extremely rare for children of chaebols to join the K-pop world.
Shinsegae stated, “We cannot confirm the personal matters of Moon. Shinsegae and The Black Label have nothing to do with each other”. The Black Label has neither released any information about their rookie group. As a result, K-pop insiders and the public are all curious about whether Moon will eventually make her debut as an idol.
Founded by famous producer Teddy, The Black Label is currently managing BIGBANG’s Taeyang, Zion.T, Jeon So-mi, Park Bo-gum, and Loren, the son of Naver GIO (Global Investment Officer) Lee Hae-jin.
‘Loren’ Lee Seung-joo is working as a singer, producer, club DJ, and model. Unlike the GIO, who leads a quiet life, Lee Seung-joo is known to have a cheerful personality. He also has a unique appearance with tattoos and piercings, which are hard to see on a person from the business world.
Lee Seung-joo used to study abroad, but he returned to Korea and has been active in the music industry. In 2017, he became known to the public through interactions with YG Entertainment singers and participation in albums. He was named as a co-songwriter for G-Dragon’s songs and a lyricist for BLACKPINK’s album. In addition, Lee Seung-joo gained global attention after appearing in BLACKPINK’s music video “Lovesick Girls” in 2020 as the boyfriend.
Lee Seung-hwan, the nephew of SK Group’s Chairman Choi Tae-won, has been revealing his daily life on YouTube. He’s the grandson of the late SK founder Choi Jong-gun and the fifth nephew of SK Group’s Chairman Choi Tae-wan. His mother is founder Choi Jong-gun’s daughter Choi Ye-jung.
Lee Seung-hwan did not inherit the family business because he wanted to search for his own happiness and identity. After working for SK Group for 5 years, he founded Dolgo Nation and started his business after various failures. Lee Seung-hwan said, “While thinking about what I could do better than others, I started a charity project”, adding “I’ve been in the red for a long time because we don’t charge any fees or operating expenses. Mom supported me financially, but I don’t want anything more than that. This is not a family company.”
Born in 1992, Ham Yeon-ji is the eldest daughter of Ottogi’s Chairman Ham Young-joon. She graduated from New York University majoring in Acting and worked as a musical actress. She had been running a YouTube channel called “Hamyeonji” until she announced YouTube activity suspension last year.
Some analysts say that Ham stopped doing YouTube to participate in Ottogi’s management. In a video, she also shared, “I’m deeply thinking about how to promote Korean food in the US market”. She currently owns 1.07% stake in Ottogi. Ottogi recently recruited Kim Kyung-ho, Ham Yeon-ji’s father-in-law and the former vice president of LG Electronics, as their first global business director.
