K-netizens Question aespa’s Dancing Skills In Latest “Drama” Teaser

After aespa dropped a 18 seconds teaser for their upcoming release, “Drama”, Korean netizens are expressing doubts

On November 8, a topic about aespa’s latest teaser for “Drama”, where silhouettes of the girl group can be seen dancing together, was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”.

The topic has since attracted around 20,000 views and over 200 comments. However, many of these questioned aespa’s uncoordinated dancing, stating that the silhouette effect allows them to see the incoordination easily.

In particular, there were comments such as, “I can’t wait for the song, but their dancing is seriously unsynchronized…”, “Does the company no care? The center isn’t uncoordinated, so it looks worse, and the video effect shows their flaws even more clearly”, and “Everyone is doing their own thing… They are not good at dancing”.

However, many also stepped up to aespa’s defense, claiming that synchronized dancing isn’t the only acceptable style, and that aespa was able to do many things outside of synchronization.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • At this point, people are really just finding anything to criticize them
  • If it weren’t for the silhouettes, the attention would be diverted and the differences wouldn’t be as noticeable. This was a directing mistake
  • Synchronization isn’t the only style of dancing in Kpop…
  • They can just dance however they feel like dancing, having individual styles isn’t a crime
  • Isn’t being in sync that important?
  • The dance is so out of sync. Is it because the choreography is intentionally out of sync?
