The girl group Weki Meki is parting ways beautifully
According to a report by News1 on the 7th, Weki Meki recently decided to disband and, after seven years of activities, they will now support each other’s futures and go their separate ways.
Weki Meki debuted in the music industry as an eight-member girl group in 2017. At the time, the group gained attention with the debut of Choi Yoo-jung and Kim Do-yeon from I.O.I, and Elly and Sei, who participated in Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ Season 1, as members of Weki Meki.
Debuting amid much interest from many K-pop fans, Weki Meki received love for songs like ‘I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend,’ ‘La La La,’ ‘Picky Picky,’ and ‘Tiki-Taka.’ Additionally, Weki Meki garnered significant attention for their unit group activities, with the team name divided into ‘Weki’ and ‘Meki,’ each consisting of four members.
Following their musical evolution and growth with ‘HIDE and SEEK’ in 2020, Weki Meki showcased their unique music through songs like ‘OOPSY,’ ‘COOL,’ and ‘Siesta.’ However, after their ‘Siesta’ promotions, Weki Meki focused on individual activities, resulting in a nearly three-year hiatus before announcing their disbandment.
Weki Meki is set to release a new digital single on the 12th, which will be their final song before disbanding.
