Rosé shared her personal struggles during a mental health event at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit
BLACKPINK Rosé, attending the event as a guest alongside the First Lady of South Korea, Kim Kun Hee, spoke about the importance of mental health. On November 18th, fans couldn’t help but swell with pride as Rosé actively participated in the discussion, shedding light on her own experiences as a public figure.
Rosé emphasized the significance of acknowledging one’s personal value, a facet of life that often goes unnoticed by others. She expressed her desire to inspire and comfort listeners through her music.
During the event, Rosé candidly shared, “There are things I do that never seem enough, no matter how hard I work. There will always be someone with a different opinion or a desire to control, making me feel lonely. Sometimes the happiness from a large following is overshadowed by those who don’t stand by me, leaving me vulnerable and hurt.”
The global impact of social media was not lost on Rosé as she reflected on the challenges it presents. Despite being strict with herself, the uncontrollable nature of thousands of comments on various platforms contributes to a sense of loneliness. She expressed her belief that open communication is key to addressing mental health concerns.
The APEC mental health awareness event, led by First Lady Jill Biden and attended by influential leaders and experts, focused on fostering economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Jill Biden introduced Rosé as “a global superstar who uses her influence for the benefit of the world, actively advocating for mental health awareness and bravely sharing her story in the hope of helping others.”
Expressing gratitude for Rosé’s presence, Jill Biden also thanked Mrs. Kim, the First Lady of South Korea, for supporting the efforts to bring awareness to mental health through Rosé’s participation.
Rosé’s openness continued at the APEC event, where she shared that her solo song “On The Ground” serves as a daily reminder of self-worth, echoing the sentiments she conveyed during the discussion.
