NewJeans’ Hiatus Not Approved by ADOR, Avoided Staff in Hong Kong

NewJeans recently announced a temporary hiatus, but ADOR insisted that they never approved of the decision.

Avoided ADOR Staff?

After the court ruling that reaffirmed NJZ’s exclusive contract with ADOR, the agency attempted to extend support by sending staff to assist the group in Hong Kong. However, NJZ (NewJeans) members reportedly refused to engage with them, making it clear that they remained firm in their stance against the company.

In fact, the staff from ADOR were unable to meet NewJeans face to face, and while the members completed the event with staff, it remains unclear who accompanied them. The situation highlights the ongoing tension between NewJeans and their former agency, further solidifying their determination to separate from ADOR.

Unapproved Hiatus?

Meanwhile, During their Hong Kong performance, NewJeans shocked fans by performing under the name “NJZ”, not using any NewJeans song, and introducing a new song.

They also announced a temporary halt to their activities. After performing their new song, they addressed the audience, saying, “This may be our last stage for a while. We respect the court’s decision and have decided to suspend our activities.” They also explained that this is a move to protect themselves and asked for fans’ understanding

This sudden announcement reportedly caught ADOR off guard, as the company was unaware of NJZ’s hiatus plan.

In particular, on March 24, the agency issued an official statement regarding NewJeans’ decision, stating, “We are very sorry that they pushed ahead with the performance under a name other than NewJeans despite the court’s decision and unilaterally declared a suspension of activities.”

The agency also added, “We will do our best for NewJeans in accordance with our valid exclusive contract. We hope to meet with the artist soon to discuss the future.”
