IU Wins Best Actress at Blue Dragon Series Awards 2025 for When Life Gives You Tangerines

Singer-actress IU has claimed the Best Actress Award at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards for her remarkable performance in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines. The awards ceremony took place on July 18 at Paradise City, Incheon, hosted by Jun Hyun-moo and YoonA.

IU, who portrayed both Ae-soon and Geum-myeong in the dual-role series, took to the stage with a visibly emotional expression. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, she said, “Thank you so much. This project When Life Gives You Tangerines has become and will always be the proudest work of my life. From the moment I received the offer, through filming, waiting for the release, watching it air, and even now.”

She continued, “I’m truly honored to have worked with the Tangerines team.” IU concluded her speech with a moving tribute: “To every Ae-soon who has lived boldly despite the world asking them to blur themselves, and to every Geum-myeong who stubbornly planted and nurtured their own desires—my respect and gratitude go to all of you.”

IU’s performance had already earned critical acclaim earlier this year, particularly for portraying two distinct yet emotionally rich characters. However, she missed out on the Best Actress award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards in May, which went to actress Kim Tae-ri, making this win at Blue Dragon even more meaningful to her fans.

IU’s victory is seen not only as a personal triumph but also as recognition of her evolving talent as an actress. Her win at one of Korea’s most prestigious content awards cements her as a powerhouse in both the music and acting industries.
