TXT’s Soobin recently came under fire for praising “Made in Abyss,” an anime known for its inappropriate content about child exploitation
In a recent long post uploaded on the online community Nate Pann that has now garnered over 50,000 views, a fan of TXT’s Soobin asks him to take responsibility for praising “Made in Abyss” during his live broadcasts.
The concern arises from the fact that young fans of Soobin are unknowingly defending the anime to shield him.
The original poster (OP) also shared a photo of her tickets to TXT’s upcoming concert to prove she’s a real fan of the group.
Under the post titled “TXT Soobin, I hope you apologize for influencing young fans to support problematic anime about child exploitation,” OP wrote:
“The reason I’m writing this is because Soobin mentioned an anime called “Made in Abyss” with inappropriate content related to child exploitation in two of his live broadcasts, causing controversy.
Soobin has already faced a lot of criticism. So I’m writing this not to add more criticism but in the hope that Soobin and Big Hit Entertainment acknowledge his mistake, apologize, and prevent young fans from supporting harmful content to protect their idol.
First, take a look at the reviews of “Made in Abyss.” Many reviews point out the problematic aspects of the animea, such as pedophilia, child exploitation, gore, abnormal sexual desires, and explicit depictions of children.
Numerous reviews criticize the anime, even stating that it led them to become aware of the problematic nature of child exploitation. It’s evident that this anime has significant issues.
However, despite these criticisms, fans are defending Soobin by supporting this controversial anime. The first post I came across was from someone who clearly lacks an understanding of concepts like pregnancy, childbirth, and even the basics of ethical standards.
Other Twitter posts defend the anime as if it were a philosophical masterpiece, showing that some fans are unaware of the harm caused by content that exploits children.
What shocked me even more was that there are fans who have watched the anime and were disturbed by inappropriate scenes, yet they still defend it.
Now, look at the statistics of TXT concert ticket buyers. Over 50% of TXT fans are teenagers, and they seem to believe that this controversial anime is not a problem. This indicates how young fans are blindly supporting the anime to protect Soobin.
If Soobin continues to avoid admitting his mistake and remains silent, the public will continue to criticize him, and young fans will persist in defending the controversial anime to shield him.
Everyone makes mistakes, and I believe the issue here is not just about blaming Soobin but addressing the broader problem of distributing content with harmful themes.
Therefore, I think Soobin should apologize for praising the anime in live broadcasts, inadvertently promoting the consumption of such content, and contributing to fans defending harmful material to protect him.
I expected Soobin to apologize and take responsibility, but seeing no response for days has been disappointing. I don’t want this issue to tarnish TXT’s image any further. If Soobin avoids addressing this issue and evades responsibility, it will be truly disappointing.
Soobin should feel ashamed for influencing young fans negatively by staying silent. I also hope Big Hit and HYBE make efforts to ensure that K-pop remains a healthy hobby for young fans. While problems may arise in the future, addressing and apologizing for the issues properly can contribute to societal awareness.
Silently hiding and pretending that nothing is wrong will only lead fans to support ethically problematic content. This is a verification of my concert tickets, and I even considered getting a refund, but I don’t want to leave the fandom like this, so I’m expressing my concerns here. I hope fans won’t blindly shield and support their idol without thinking critically.”

- OP is a true fan. Honestly, even I found it horrifying that young fans who don’t understand the concept were defending such anime. At least, for the sake of young fans, Soobin should acknowledge that such anime is harmful, and be careful in the future.
- Why are you calling OP a fake fan? I agree with the post.
- OP posted their two-day tickets purchased through membership pre-sale, yet is being accused of being a fake fan? It’s not like the tickets are cheap. Before accusing someone and spreading strange conspiracy theories, at least verify their statements. I think if Soobin and Big Hit apologize first, it could have a positive impact on other idols as well. Despite the controversy escalating, idols and their companies trying to hide is just cowardly and unethical.
- OP is a real fan
- Soobin, let’s not let this issue pass by like nothing happened. I want to like you for a long time
