“A Good Day To Be A Dog” actress Song Young-ah is drawing attention from viewers
Born in 1996, Song Young-ah has played the piano since she was 5 years old. She graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul majoring in Practical Music. During her high school days, Song Young-ah never missed first place in practical tests for her Piano major.
The actress shared, “My dad once told me that the origin of arts lies in ‘music’. In addition to piano, I learned some other instruments, such as the violin, flute, sogeum, daeajang, etc. Among them, piano suited me the best so I continued playing it until high school”.
While in high school, Song Young-ah became curious about acting and started learning it. It was because she thought she should find something to do for the rest of her life rather than doing well only in the college entrance exam.
Despite her parents’ opposition, Song Young-ah tried to persuade them by promising to show her acting ability by getting accepted into the Department of Theater and Film. The following year, she entered Seoul Institute of the Arts majoring in Acting, and successfully gained support and trust from her family.
Song Young-ah later made her debut in 2019 with a supporting role in TV Chosun’s drama “Queen: Love and War”. She started to make her face known to the public after appearing in popular works, such as “Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce)”, “Mine”, “Under The Queen’s Umbrella”, “Doctor Cha”, “My Dearest”, “Unpredictable Family”, and “A Good Day To Be A Dog”.
Song Young-ah appears in KBS1’s ongoing daily drama “Unpredictable Family” as Chung Film’s employee Lee Yoon-ah. Regarding this character, she said, “I’ve prepared myself to receive criticism from viewers. Getting criticized a lot means I’ve portrayed the character well.”
In the meantime, Song Young-ah is also starring in MBC’s “A Good Day To Be A Dog”. In this drama, she plays Cheon Song-yi, a music teacher at Garam High School who is close to Han Hae-na (Park Gyu-young). Cheon Song-yi, who always shows a tiring face due to her tough workplace and an unchanging expression as if nothing in the world matters to her, is a strict teacher who hits students with facts rather than dreams and hopes.
Song Young-ah confessed, “I did over 100 auditions within four years. At first, I felt like my existence was denied and was very discouraged. However, I didn’t consider it a failure in my early 20s. I believed that if I worked hard, my dream would come true. I kept challenging myself with the mindset that I need to go forward”.
She proudly said, “My ultimate goal is to act until I’m 100 years old. To do that, I have to be better at acting, treat other people well, and connect with viewers. I want to be an actress who can still be used even when I’m 100 years old. I’ll work harder to become an actress who can go for a long time.”
Meanwhile, Song Young-ah was recently cast in the new drama “My Happy End”, which will premiere on December 30th.
