The employee breakdown of the “Big 4” K-pop companies, including HYBE, SM, JYP, and YG has drawn discussion
On November 29, a topic titled “Staff size of large agencies HYBE, SM, JYP, and YG” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”.
In the topic, the total number of employees under each aforementioned company was revealed, as well as broken down by gender as well as full-time and part-time workers. It can be seen that there are more full-time workers than part-timers in all companies, and the number of female employees dominated that of male ones.
In particular, HYBE employs a total of 707 employees, including 228 men and 479 women. Out of them, 19 men and 13 women work part-time.
Additiontion, the numbers of staff under HYBE’s subsidiaries are as below:
- Big Hit Music: 106
- Pledis: 106
- Belift Lab: 61
- Source Music: 48
- ADOR: 38
- KOZ: 40
Meanwhile, SM consists of 680 staff members, out of which 208 are men and 472 are women. There are a total of 9 men and 12 women who are part-time workers.
YG Entertainment is listed as having 452 workers, with 189 men and 263 women. Among them, the number of temporary workers are 23 for men and 29 for women.
Finally, JYP Entertainment surprisingly has the fewest employees, totaling to 256 people, including 126 men and 230 women. Among them, there are only 4 temporary employees, who are all women.
Having seen this list, some netizens express shock that YG has more staff than JYP, despite the lower number of artists and fewer comebacks.

Below are some comments from netizens:
- YG has a lot of employees, but why do I feel like this company is not working at all…
- And this is why YG employees have a good work-life balance
- Belift Lab has more staff than I thought… Why is it that they don’t work probably
- ADOR does their work too well, I was shocked to learn they have the least employees
- So there’s more women in general! This is amazing
