Actor Kang Hoon Joins “Running Man” As Temporary Member After Kim Jong-kook’s Invitation

On May 14, SBS announced that actor Kang Hoon participated in the recording of “Running Man” as a rental member.

Earlier, the “Running Man” cast reduced to six members after Jeon So-min stepped down in November last year. The staff and the cast members talked about the idea for rental members in December last year. At a meeting with the “Running Man” producers, Kim Jong-kook actively appealed the rental member system, saying, “I think it would be good to rent out the members now. It’s hard if we’re too framed.” Producer Choi Hyung-in agreed and said, “I think idols are good, too. As long as they can get along well with the original members,” adding, “Actually, I don’t think age matters much. Everyone lives young.” Thus, Kang Hoon became the first rental member of Running Man.

Earlier in February, Kim Jong-kook asked Kang Hoon when the actor guested on his YouTube channel ‘Gym Jong-kook,’ “You said you’re taking a break these days, right? There’s a short vacancy in ‘Running Man’, so come and play for a while,” and added, “You don’t have to be a regular member, just join temporary, do something and leave after becoming known. Please come as a guest on the show.” Kang Hoon replied, “I’m not saying I’m going to do it,” while being embarrassed, “If you give me a call, I’ll definitely come to ‘Running Man’.”

Kang Hoon’s first Running Man episode as a cast member will air at 6:15 p.m. on May 26th.
