Actress Shim Eun-woo Breaks Down in Tears “Cleared of School Bullying, But Lost 5 Years”

On July 5, Shim Eun-woo uploaded a heartfelt video titled “It’s Been 5 Years” on her newly launched YouTube channel. It marked her first public appearance in a long time.
“It’s been so long. I’m a little nervous and emotional,” she began. “I’m still deeply grateful for the love I received during The World of the Married. And yes, I’m also an eight-year certified yoga instructor.”
The actress then opened up about the difficult period she endured. “Recently, I haven’t had much acting work. I ended up stepping back from the industry for 5 years after facing false school bullying accusations. After a long legal battle, I was officially proven innocent—it was not school violence.”

Overwhelmed with emotion, she teared up while reflecting on those lost years. “It was a very hard time, but I learned how to truly rest. I looked inward and realized the parts of me that needed growth. Despite everything, I did my best to endure and protect my everyday life.”
Shim expressed gratitude to those who stood by her, saying, “I hope to become someone who can return the love and support I’ve received.” She also revealed that during her hiatus, she only had the chance to audition once. Now, she’s ready to return: “It’s time to stop resting. I hope I can show a better version of myself as an actress and also bring peace and rest to others through this channel.”

The scandal began in March 2021, when a middle school classmate accused Shim of school bullying. As a result, she halted all activities at the height of her rising career.
However, in March 2025, Shim’s legal team confirmed that the investigation produced clear evidence she was not the perpetrator. Despite her vindication, she revealed that malicious comments and ridicule continue to follow her.
Now, as Shim Eun-woo slowly rebuilds her life and career, she is a living testament to the long-lasting damage of false accusations and the resilience it takes to overcome them.
