On February 27, NewJeans members announced via their personal Instagram that they had officially created X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and TikTok accounts under the new name NJZ. They also shared a teaser video featuring animal-shaped cookies representing the members’ initials.

This move sent the online community into a frenzy, especially amid the ongoing legal controversy surrounding NewJeans’ agency. Fans were divided in their reactions – some expressed excitement for fresh content under NJZ, while others were confused and speculated about NewJeans’ future. The unexpected action quickly became a trending topic, with netizens analyzing every detail of the teaser photo and debating its implications for the group’s future.
Immediately, on February 28, ADOR gave an announcement, stated, “ADOR maintains the position that the exclusive contract is still valid, and a legal judgment on this matter is pending.”

They further explained, “NewJeans already has official social media accounts, such as YouTube and TikTok, for interacting with fans. Any other accounts were established without prior consultation, which breaches the terms of their exclusive contract.”

ADOR also cautioned, “Sharing content or participating in entertainment activities through unofficial accounts constitutes a contract violation and could lead to confusion among fans and advertisers. We urge everyone to refrain from such actions.”
Amid the ongoing legal dispute, all five members of NewJeans (NJZ) confirmed on February 7 that they will perform as NJZ at ComplexCon Hong Kong in March, where they are also expected to debut with new music.
