Netizens Eager for NewJeans’ Lunar New Year Hanbok Photos, but Concerned Over ADOR Contract Dispute

As the holidays approach, many fans are eagerly anticipating what NewJeans will look like during this year’s Lunar New Year, dressed in traditional hanbok.

On September 13 last year, the official NewJeans account posted several photos of the group in hanbok along with the brief message, “Have a happy Chuseok with NewJeans.” The photos showcased the members wearing hanbok in a traditional home, highlighting their beauty and grace.

In the photos, NewJeans members displayed stunning visuals, each wearing hanbok in different colors. The members gazed at the camera with soft expressions and exchanged natural glances with one another. Notably, their neatly tied hair added to their elegant appearance, with Danielle even wearing her bangs down, further accentuating their features.

However, given NewJeans’ recent announcement to terminate their contract with ADOR, there are prevailing doubts about whether they will continue to wear hanbok and leave a gift for their fandom.

On January 13, ADOR filed for a provisional injunction to preserve the status of the agency and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts. This was an attempt to secure recognition of the agency’s status in light of a lawsuit concerning the validity of the exclusive contract. ADOR explained that the injunction was necessary to prevent confusion and damage caused by NewJeans members who had unilaterally announced the termination of their exclusive contracts and were trying to independently sign contracts with advertisers.

Meanwhile, NewJeans created a separate account called ‘jeanzforfree’ on December 14 to communicate directly with their fans. Choosing ‘Jeanz’ as their name, rather than ‘NewJeans,’ they expressed their desire to connect on their own terms.

In a prior incident, NewJeans caused a stir by hosting an unscheduled live broadcast on September 11 to criticize their parent company, HYBE. Without informing ADOR, the members pointed out mistreatment by HYBE and expressed dissatisfaction with the new management at ADOR. They also called for Min Hee-jin, who was dismissed last month but retained an in-house director position, to be reinstated as CEO.
