‘Stick with Stage Name NJZ’ NewJeans Hanni Holds Solo Live “It Might Take a While to Get Used To”
On Feb 10th, Hanni went live on the “njz_official” account, saying, “This is my first live. I haven’t shown my face alone before.”
This marked Hanni’s first individual Instagram live. She admitted feeling a bit awkward, saying, “Doing a live by myself… I’m not really sure how to do this.” She initially planned to only use her voice but decided to push through after having done a live session with the other members before. She confessed, “On the fan communication app, only our fans could watch, but now, it’s in front of people all over the world. I’m still very inexperienced.“
Later, a message appeared on the account saying, “Uh… it might take a while to get used to doing lives here.” The post was assumed to be from Hanni herself.
Meanwhile, on Feb 10th, ADOR released an official statement, saying, “On Feb 7th, NewJeans members announced their plans to promote under a group name that was not agreed upon with ADOR, causing confusion among journalists and prompting numerous inquiries.“
The agency continued, “The exclusive contracts between NewJeans members and ADOR remain legally valid, and claims of contract termination are unilateral assertions. ADOR filed for an injunction to confirm its position as the management company under the exclusive contracts, as well as a lawsuit to validate the contracts. We kindly request that articles use the official team name ‘NewJeans’, which is based on legally binding contracts.“
ADOR added, “We urge journalists, who understand the importance of exclusive contracts in the entertainment industry better than anyone, to cooperate in ensuring accurate reporting.”
Previously, on Feb 7th, NewJeans members announced their decision to rename themselves as NJZ. Through an unofficial NJZ account, they declared “Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein’s new group name: NJZ. Get ready for an exciting journey with NJZ in 2025! Stay tuned!“, signaling the start of their independent activities.
