aespa Accused of Copying KiiiKiii’s Concept, Netizens Show Mixed Responses
Recently, a topic title “aespa’s concept photos look similar to KiiiKiii” was published on the Korean forum Pann Nate, drawing massive attention with over 35,000 views.
The topic in question attached various concept photos for aespa‘s upcoming album “Dirty Work”, alongside previous images of Starship Entertainment’s girl group KiiiKiii, along with the caption, “Jung Hae-won, KiiiKiii‘s creative director, must be feeling so annoyed”.
At the end of the topic, its author also added, “I’m not just talking about photo composition. Those with knowledge about photography will understand what I meant regarding the similarities”, sparking heavy copying allegations.
However, netizens were completely perplexed by the allegations, as they fail to see the “similarities” in question. Some also pointed out that while both groups utilized flash photography under the sun, this technique was already utilized by aespa during their “Spicy” era.
While several did mention that the photos look like they “referenced” KiiiKiii, most left scathing remarks such as “There are so different that I have nothing left to say” and “Are there even any connection between the two styles except for the flash photography technique”?
