“Cheating Couple” Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo Have Illegitimate Child, Wife Unaware
According to recent reports, actress Kim Min-hee and film director Hong Sang-soo are expecting their first child together, and the date of birth is set to be in 2025.
Meanwhile, K-Star News reported the response of Hong Sang-soo’s wife, who said, “I had no idea” and “Thank you for letting me know.” It is added that she did not give any specific response to additional questions.
Kim Min-hee conceived Hong Sang-soo‘s child naturally. The couple discovered the pregnancy last summer, and Kim Min-hee is currently in the late stages of her pregnancy. The baby is expected to arrive this spring.
Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo are currently living in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Hong Sang-soo moved out of his home in Apgujeong, where he lived with his legal wife, and acquired a new home in Hanam, where Kim Min-hee’s parents reside.

Kim Min-hee was seen driving, with Hong Sang-soo sitting in the passenger seat. Recently, Hong Sang-soo has been taking driving lessons again, seemingly in preparation for life after the baby’s birth.
On Jan 15th, the two visited an obstetrics and gynecology clinic together. Hong Sang-soo has been by Kim Min-hee’s side throughout the pregnancy, from confirmation to check-ups, undeterred by public scrutiny.
The relationship between Kim Min-hee and Hong Sang-soo has been controversial for nine years. They met during the 2015 film “Right Now, Wrong Then” and publicly admitted to their affair in 2017.
Hong Sang-soo is still legally married. He wed his wife, identified as A, in 1985 after meeting her during his studies in the United States. The couple has a daughter. Since leaving his family, Hong Sang-soo has been living with Kim Min-hee for the past nine years.
The child Kim Min-hee is carrying will be listed as an illegitimate child on Hong Sang-soo’s family registry. However, A will legally be listed as the mother unless Kim Min-hee opts to register the child solely under her name.
Since the scandal, Kim Min-hee has only appeared in Hong Sang-soo’s films, including “On the Beach at Night Alone”, “The Day After”, “Hotel by the River”, “The Woman Who Ran”, “Introduction” and “Walk Up”, among others.
In August 2024, Kim Min-hee won Best Performance at the 77th Locarno Film Festival for her role in “By the Stream”. At the time, she held the trophy in her hands and Hong Sang-soo’s child in her womb.
