The topic of Go Hyun-jung’s children was previously discussed in the 2017 TV Chosun program “Byul Byul Talk Show”.
On the program, a journalist shared, “Both of Go Hyun-jung’s children are studying in the US. They’ve inherited their parents’ good genes and are very attractive. Her son resembles his father, while her daughter strongly resembles her.” Another journalist added, “Because people often say her daughter looks like her, the daughter responded, ‘You shouldn’t say things like that. According to reports, Go Hyun-jung’s son Chung Hae-chan graduated from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He also completed an internship in the financial advisory department of Samjong KPMG, one of South Korea’s top four accounting firms. In December last year, he attended a flute recital by Han Ji-hee alongside his father, Chairman Chung Yong-jin. He is currently seen as a strong candidate to be a successor in the Shinsegae Group.
On November 27, Go Hyun-jung appeared on tvN’s variety show “You Quiz on the Block”, where she talked about her personal life. During the episode, she said “Some people ask if I still see my children. A mother should feel comfortable, shouldn’t she? But that’s something I could never dare to wish for. I didn’t realize we weren’t close. Feeling that way made me so sad. It’s something that can’t be filled, and it upset me greatly“, indirectly referencing her relationship with her children.
Go Hyun-jung, who debuted in the entertainment industry after being the runner-up in the 1989 Miss Korea pageant, rose to fame with the 1995 drama “Sandglass”. That same year, she married Chairman Chung Yong-jin and declared retirement. She gave birth to a son in 1998 and a daughter in 2000. However, in 2003, after eight years of marriage, she announced her divorce.
