On June 11, a media outlet reported that Kim Garam was in talks for an exclusive contract with Moden Berry Korea, fueling speculation about her comeback. However, on the same day, Moden Berry Korea issued an official statement clarifying, “There is no truth to the rumors of an exclusive contract with Kim Garam.”
Kim Garam was swept up in controversy immediately after LE SSERAFIM’s debut teaser was released in April 2022. Online communities shared allegations of school bullying and other inappropriate past behaviors, sparking widespread criticism.
Despite the backlash, Kim Garam proceeded to debut with LE SSERAFIM on May 2. However, the controversy continued to escalate, prompting her to halt activities just 19 days later on May 20.
Although Kim Garam released a personal statement and disclosed official school records in an effort to defend herself, the disciplinary action revealed in the documents, along with the release of vulgar language and suggestive images, made it difficult to shift public opinion in her favor.
The agency’s handling of the situation was also widely criticized as inadequate. Ultimately, on July 20, just two months after her debut, Source Music announced the termination of Kim Garam’s contract, confirming her departure from LE SSERAFIM.
Since her departure, Kim Garam continued her education and graduated from high school last year. She has since enrolled in the Department of Media Acting at Konkuk University.
Last month, nearly three years after her exit from the group, Kim Garam opened a personal Instagram account, sharing photos and updates about her current life.
While rumors of Kim Garam’s return sparked heated debate, her former agency has firmly denied any plans for a comeback. For now, Kim appears focused on her studies and personal life, with no confirmed steps back into the spotlight.
