On May 30, a video titled “That Period, How I Overcame It” was uploaded to Ahn Sun-young’s YouTube channel.

In the video, Ahn Sun-young opened up about her experience with early menopause symptoms.

Ahn Sun-young shared, “Over the past one to two years, I suddenly felt dazed while working, my hands and feet would go numb, and I’d lie down. I also cried uncontrollably during a live broadcast. My emotions became very unstable, and my physical condition deteriorated so much that I took a six-month break from live broadcasts. That period was tough both physically and mentally.”

Previously, in a broadcast last year, Ahn Sun-young revealed that stress from becoming a building owner triggered her early menopause.

In that earlier broadcast, she said, “When I first bought the building and signed the papers, I was thrilled.” However, she continued, “While constructing the building, COVID-19 hit, the Russia-Ukraine war broke out, and there was a logistics crisis. If someone on the construction site got COVID-19, work stopped for two weeks, but expenses kept piling up. It was overwhelming.”

She confessed that multiple challenges made things difficult. Ahn Sun-young added, “At that time, I experienced burnout syndrome and early menopause. Tests showed psychological burnout, and physically, I had stress-induced early menopause. My female hormone levels indicated menopause. It came on quickly. My physical age was late 30s, but my ovarian age was around 55.”

Despite the challenges, Ahn Sun-young emphasized that she is now focused on healing and recovery. Her candid revelation resonated with many viewers, who praised her bravery in speaking openly about a topic often considered taboo.
