ALLDAY PROJECT’s Annie Moon Officially Debuts Despite Opposition from the Shinsegae Family
On June 23, Annie Moon (Moon Seo-yoon) will officially step into the K-pop scene with the debut single FAMOUS and its title track WICKED as a member of the five-member co-ed group ALLDAY PROJECT. The group consists of Annie, Tarzzan, Bailey, Woochan, and Youngseo, and is managed by THEBLACKLABEL, led by former YG producer Teddy.
Previously, on June 13, a video titled “ALLDAY PROJECT – ‘DAY 1’” was uploaded to the official ALLDAY PROJECT YouTube channel, spotlighting member Annie as she candidly shared her journey toward debuting as a K-pop idol.
In the emotional video, Annie recalled the moment that sparked her dream, “When I was 7, I stumbled upon 2NE1 and BIGBANG’s ‘Lollipop’ performance, and it opened a new world for me—it was so shocking.”
Annie comes from a well-known and influential family—she is the granddaughter of Lee Myung-hee, chairman of South Korea’s retail giant Shinsegae Group, and the daughter of Chung Yoo-kyung, president of Shinsegae’s department store division. Despite her background, Annie revealed that her path into the music industry wasn’t easy.
“One day, I casually asked, ‘Mom, what if I became a singer?’ and she laughed, saying, ‘That’s ridiculous,’” Annie shared. “Two or three years later, I told her seriously that I really wanted to be a singer, and she said, ‘Are you serious? Absolutely not.’”
To prove her determination, Annie struck a deal with her family. Her mother, Chung Yoo-kyung, offered to support her aspirations if she could get into university. “From that point on, I gave up sleep and worked so hard on my studies,” Annie said. “When I finally got in, my mom admitted she didn’t believe I would. She thought, ‘She’s always at the practice studio—when did she study?’”
Annie explained that many people questioned her sincerity. “So I had to prove how passionate and serious I was. I worked fiercely every single day to get just a little bit closer to debuting.” Her perseverance paid off, and now her dream is about to become reality.
ALLDAY PROJECT, the group Annie is part of, is set to officially debut on June 23, drawing attention not only for their talent but also for Annie’s inspiring backstory and determination to carve her own path.
