Audiences Mocked TripleS upon Winning 1st Trophy? Frown, Shaking Heads, Covering Ears

On May 14, girl group TripleS achieved their 1st win on a Korean music show, beating out competitors Kim Jae-hwan and YOUNITE. Dubbed the “largest girl group in K-Pop,” all 24 members of TripleS took to the stage to sing the encore. Despite some members needing to hold sheets of paper to sing, the group clearly enjoyed their victory, with one member even shouting in the middle of the performance.
In contrast to the joyful atmosphere on stage, however, the camera captured some unusual reactions from the audience. While many fans were enthusiastically cheering, a few were seen shaking their heads, frowning, turning away, or even covering their ears during TripleS’s performance.

Some speculate that the audience member covered their ears when a TripleS member unexpectedly shouted. Others believe the audience’s reactions indicated displeasure with the group’s win. Additionally, some netizens suggested that the audience was simply unimpressed with the encore stage:
Below are some comments from netizens:
- They won fair and square, no need for such rude behavior!
- If you don’t like it, just stay quiet instead of showing such attitudes.
- The encore wasn’t that bad; they even chanted with the fans. Those reactions were uncalled for.
- It’s tough for large groups to succeed. I hope TripleS has a smoother path ahead.
- Do you have to be so rude in front of people’s happiness?
On the other hand, TripleS is a girl group under Modhaus. They were introduced to the public through a pre-debut project before officially debuting in May 2022. After launching a few sub-units, TripleS began promoting as a full 24-member group with their album ”ASSEMBLE24”, released on May 8. Just as NCT is known as the largest boy group in K-Pop, TripleS represents the largest girl group in the industry.
