Barbie Hsu’s Husband Finally Appeared after Late Actress’ Death, “Trying to be Strong”
On February 4, designer Lee Sang-bong wrote on his account, “When I saw an article saying that Koo Jun-yup’s Taiwanese wife Barbie Hsu passed away while traveling in Japan during the Lunar New Year, I thought it was fake news. I was so surprised when I saw it in several media outlets that I sent a text message to Jun-yeop, telling him to cheer up if it’s true and asking if he’s okay.”
According to the designer, Koo Jun-yup didn’t answer for a long time, causing him to be concerned and called the singer. However, Koo Jun-yup didn’t answer and only replied with a text late at night, saying, “I’m trying to be strong”.
Talking about Koo Jun-yup, Lee Sang-bong wrote, “He must be out of his mind right now, but when I think about how much pain he’ll face in the future, I worry about Jun-yup’s delicate personality. I don’t know what to say to comfort him. All I can say is, cheer up.”
Meanwhile, previously on February 3, Barbie Hsu’s family announced that the actress had passed away due to pneumonia caused by influenza during a trip to Japan.
According to the Chinese media outlet 163, Barbie Hsu’s husband, Koo Jun-yup (DJ Koo), was in Taiwan at the time of the announment. The unexpected tragedy left Koo Jun-yup devastated and heartbroken.
Meanwhile, according to the latest news from ETtoday, family and friends have lost contact with Koo Jun-yup, drawing concern. The Korean singer has not answered any calls from family or friends, no one knows his current whereabouts, and he has practically gone missing.
“He is in Taiwan, but he is unreachable. We truly don’t know where he is. In Taiwan, he only had Barbie Hsu as his family and support. We and Barbie Hsu’s relatives went to their house, but he was not there,” said a close friend of the couple, expressing deep worry.
Meanwhile, earlier on the afternoon of February 3, Korean media outlet Ilgan Sports managed to interview Koo Jun-yup after Barbie Hsu’s death. The singer confirmed that he was in a terrible state, uttering three words, “I’m not okay.” According to Ilgan Sports, Koo Jun-yup’s voice was filled with sorrow, as if he could not accept the reality of his wife’s passing abroad.
On the other hand, Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo started dating in 1998. At the time, DJ Koo was a famous singer in South Korea and frequently traveled to Taiwan for performances. There, he and Barbie Hsu appeared on the same television program, fell in love, and began secretly dating. However, after just one year, they were forced to part ways due to the interference of their management agency. Barbie Hsu later married businessman Wang Xiaofei, while DJ Koo remained single.
In 2021, after Barbie Hsu’s divorce, Koo Jun-yup took a bold step and called her old phone number. The actress answered, and they quickly rekindled their past romance. After months of phone conversations, he proposed to Barbie Hsu, asking her to become a family before it’s too late, and she accepted.
