YG Unleashes a Double Power Play: BLACKPINK’s Comeback & New 4-Member Girl Group Debut

On May 26, YG Entertainment’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk released a video on YG’s official YouTube channel, outlining upcoming plans for their artists including BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE. The announcement has sparked excitement among fans who’ve been eagerly waiting for updates.

Yang stated, BLACKPINK will finally be returning in front of fans after such a long time. While we haven’t finalized a specific release date yet, we’ll be able to announce details about their new song very soon.” His comments signal the group’s imminent comeback after a lengthy hiatus since their last activity.

Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER is set to release their new track “Hot Sauce” on July 1. Yang described the song as “simple, upbeat, and catchy, perfect for summer. It’s like a gift to fans that I hope they’ll enjoy to the fullest.” BABYMONSTER will follow this release with a mini-album featuring four songs on October 1.

TREASURE will unveil a new mini-album on September 1 and kick off a brand-new world tour starting in October. Yang shared that he had recently spoken with all the members, saying, “We’ve decided to release either a mini or full album twice a year as a steady commitment.”

Yang also shed light on plans for new groups. YG is currently developing two male teams: Team A (average age 18) and Team B (ages 15–16). One of these teams is expected to debut next year. On the female side, although BABYMONSTER only debuted a year ago, Yang revealed that a new girl group with four confirmed members is also in the works. He plans to release footage of their training soon and hinted at solo releases for each member next year.

Addressing criticism from fans over delayed album schedules, Yang explained, “We’ve made major internal changes at YG to address this issue.” He added that the company plans to implement a new system starting in the second half of the year to better manage its intellectual properties and content pipeline.

With BLACKPINK‘s return and multiple new group debuts on the horizon, YG Entertainment is clearly ramping up for an active and transformative year.
