As the launch date of BLACKPINK’s new tour “DEADLINE” approaches on July 5, tensions are running high among fans who still haven’t received any hint of new music. Instead of releasing a new song ahead of time, YG Entertainment confirmed it would only unveil the track during the opening night concert at Goyang Stadium, South Korea — a move that has ignited a firestorm on social media.

Rather than excitement, the announcement fueled widespread backlash. The phrase “BLACKPINK leaving YG” surged to the top of Weibo’s trending topics, reflecting the growing frustration among fans. Many took to social platforms to accuse the agency of being slow, apathetic, and money-driven, arguing that YG consistently prioritizes profit over proper musical investment in BLACKPINK.
Traditionally, idol groups release new albums or singles prior to tours, promote their songs on music shows, and then embark on live performances. But in BLACKPINK’s case, YG’s decision to drop the song only during the concert bypasses fans’ desire for pre-release music, live stages, and physical albums. Supporters argue this strategy not only undercuts the group’s chart performance and album sales but also demonstrates the company’s lack of care for fan expectations.

The backlash isn’t without context. In 2023, all four members — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — chose to renew their group contract with YG but manage their solo careers independently. Since then, the members have been far more active, each releasing well-produced solo albums with multiple tracks and rich visuals — a stark contrast to the infrequent group comebacks under YG.
This disparity has only deepened fan disillusionment. Many believe BLACKPINK’s full potential is being held back by YG’s outdated and sluggish management style. As one fan put it: “If they weren’t trapped under YG’s slow pace, their careers could shine even brighter.”
On June 24, the members shared new photos on their personal stories, believed to be a subtle response to the recent rumors. With their hands gathered to form the shape of a flower, BLACKPINK’s reunion has fans buzzing.

For now, anticipation remains high for the DEADLINE tour, but the disconnect between YG and BLACKPINK’s fandom is impossible to ignore. Whether the concert’s new music reveal can heal the rift, or further fuel exit hopes, remains to be seen.
