Buriram Meatballs
Lisa, born and raised in the province of Buriram, known as the “City of Happiness,” has recently boosted the popularity of Buriram meatballs after enthusiastically sharing her love for the dish on the Thai TV show Woody Show in September 2021.
“They are really famous. People buy and eat them immediately at the Buriram train station. The highlight is the sauce, which is only available in Buriram. It’s so delicious; you can’t find it anywhere else,” she said.
Lisa’s casual mention led to a significant surge in the sales of Buriram meatballs. According to Bangkok Post, local vendors reported an increase in their income from a few hundred baht to over 10,000 baht (300 USD) per day.
Traditional Clothing:
Lisa impressed with a royal look in traditional Thai clothing during her solo debut in the music video for “LALISA.” This has sparked a trend in traditional clothing and accessories, with Bangkok merchants reporting a significant rise in sales thanks to the youngest BLACKPINK member.
“Many people order from us online. In the store, we continuously receive a large number of customers visiting daily. They ask us about what type of headgear Lisa wore, what style, and what color,” said Samorn Suthiwong, the owner of a store in Bangkok.
Thai Sarong:
Lisa donned a Thai sarong during a temple visit.
Undoubtedly, Lisa is a fashion icon with considerable influence. Every item she wears, from high-end to affordable, becomes highly sought after. In June, Lisa posted photos on Instagram taken in Ayutthaya, a famous historical site in Thailand, wearing a traditional Thai sarong. Shortly after, Thai sarongs became a trend on social media, benefiting Suwimol Chaiwing, the shop owner where Lisa purchased the sarong.
Nong Pho Milk:
The youngest BLACKPINK member’s TikTok video of dancing and drinking Nong Pho fresh milk with friends has driven an incredible increase in the sales of this beverage. Klahan Kaewjean, the President of the Nong Pho Cooperative, stated that product orders tripled, and they ensured to meet the demand.
Khai Jiao (Thai Prawn Omelette)
Lisa’s Omelette has made a local eatery extremely popular. In mid-November, Lisa participated in Spotify’s Billions Club series, showcasing her cooking skills by making Khai Jiao, a traditional Thai shrimp-paste omelette. This dish, which Lisa loves, gained immense popularity after the release of the episode, with Thai eateries suddenly experiencing high demand overnight.
“Crispy omelette rice sells like hotcakes after Lisa demonstrated her cooking skills with the favorite shrimp-paste omelette. Many fans rushed to the restaurant,” reported a Thai news agency.
The owner of the shrimp-paste omelette stall at Din Daeng market in Khon Kaen city shared that she used to be the only person cooking and selling khai jiao in the area. She would typically use only 5-6 eggs per day. However, after Lisa’s video, she had to hire additional assistants and increase cooking ingredients significantly.
She expressed gratitude to Lisa and expressed hope that the idol could visit her stall someday and taste the dish for free
