On July 11, two of K-pop’s most influential girl groups BLACKPINK and TWICE made simultaneous comebacks, sparking excitement across the global fandom and setting the stage for an intense chart showdown.

Both groups released their new music at 1 p.m. KST across major online platforms. BLACKPINK returned with their digital single “JUMP”, while TWICE unveiled their full-length studio album “THIS IS FOR”, which features 14 tracks.

Marking their first group release in two years and ten months, BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” debuted at No. 5 on Melon’s HOT100 (as of 5 p.m.), which tracks songs released within the last 100 days. The song also landed at No. 24 on Melon’s main TOP100 chart, No. 11 on Genie’s TOP200, and quickly reached No. 1 on Bugs’ real-time chart.

“JUMP” is a high-energy English-language track in the hardstyle genre, defined by explosive beats and a guitar riff reminiscent of a Western film score. The track features bold vocals from all four members and was produced by longtime collaborators TEDDY and 24.

BLACKPINK’s label, YG Entertainment, noted, “The song showcases the powerful synergy of the four members reuniting after nearly three years.” Regarding the music video, YG added, “The visual concept conveys BLACKPINK’s narrative and influence through a striking cinematic lens.”

TWICE’s comeback centers around the empowering English-language title track “THIS IS FOR”, which emphasizes confidence and inner strength. The song debuted at No. 29 on Melon’s HOT100, No. 117 on Genie’s TOP200, and No. 39 on Bugs’ real-time chart.

Their new album features a total of 14 tracks including “FOUR,” “OPTIONS,” “MARS,” “RIGHT HAND GIRL,” “PEACH GELATO,” “HI HELLO,” “BATTITUDE,” “DAT AHH DAT OOH,” “LET LOVE GO,” “G.O.A.T.,” “TALK,” “SEESAW,” and “Heartbreak Avenue.”

This album marks TWICE’s first full-length release in three years and eight months and holds special significance as it celebrates the group’s 10th debut anniversary.

In a statement through JYP Entertainment, the members shared, “We prepared this album with deep appreciation for the domestic and international fans who have supported us over the past decade. We reflected on how we could showcase a more mature version of ourselves and aimed to create a body of work worthy of our 10th anniversary.”

As BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” continues to climb the charts, the group will not be promoting on music shows. Instead, they are scheduled to perform in Los Angeles on July 12–13 as part of their ongoing world tour.

TWICE, on the other hand, has officially begun their music show promotions, appearing on KBS2’s “Music Bank”. They will kick off their own world tour with concerts at Incheon Inspire Arena on July 19–20.

With both groups returning on the same day, all eyes are now on how their new releases will perform and which act will dominate the summer charts.
