BLACKPINK’s Jennie Opens Up About Her Fashion Choices Amid Outfit Exposure Controversy
On March 9, the YouTube channel “Fairy Jae-hyung” uploaded a video titled “Jennie’s Story That Has Never Been Told Before.” In the video, BLACKPINK’s Jennie appeared as a guest and had a deep conversation with Jung Jae-hyung.
When her influence on the trend of oversized bags was mentioned, Jennie responded, “Although my current image is often associated with high fashion, I genuinely love fashion. Even on my days off, I find it fun to go window shopping without doing anything else.”
Jennie continued, “I realized this last year – I absolutely love and adore clothes. Vintage pieces are especially fascinating. When I find an affordable item with great quality, I wonder about the designer’s intentions and why it was priced that way. Discovering such things is exciting.”
She also shared, “One thing I haven’t been able to do yet, but hope to someday when I have more freedom, is to share the things I love and engage with.”
Jung Jae-hyung then asked, “I heard you put a lot of thought into your album outfits?” Jennie explained, “I’ve loved watching runway shows since I was young. I wanted to create something new that blends my current aesthetic with the classic styles I’ve always loved.”
She revealed, “Some of the outfits seen now were actually collected with my stylist from small shops, thinking, ‘Let’s wear this someday.’ We’ve been gathering them for a long time.”
Jennie, who even explores designers’ exclusive archives, added, “Because I grew up being influenced by fashion, I often ask brands I work with to open their archives for me. I have so much fun searching through them, asking things like, ‘Do you have something from this runway year?’ All the outfits and styles in my album were selected to reflect my identity and personal style.”

Especially, her outfit at “The Ruby Experience” show at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on March 6-7, have sparked debate.
