BLACKPINK’s Jisoo to ReleaseSolo Album in on Valentine’s Day, “The Gift is Me”

On January 13, the official SNS account of BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s label, BLISSOO, published a “coming soon” video, showing a lie detector in action.

With this, the female idol effectively confirmed that she will be releasing her 2nd solo album on February 14, which falls on Valentine’s Day.

According to Jisoo’s side, the new album will include music that features her own unique storytelling. Details such as the album title, concept, and song information will be announced later.

Jisoo also explained her decision to release the new album on Valentine’s day, saying, “I chose Valentine’s Day because I thought it would look romantic if it was released then.
The gift is me.”

The female idol also expressed, “It’s my first time preparing everything on my own, and wow… there’s so much to do! But since BLINKs have been waiting, I wanted to do everything to make you happy. I took lots of photos and worked hard to get everything ready! Look forward to it.
I love you. I’m looking forward to ‘Newtopia’ and the 2nd solo album.”

Meanwhile, previously on January 10, media outlet OSEN reported that Jisoo is gearing up for her solo return, aiming for a February release. In response to inquiries, Jisoo’s representatives stated, “It is difficult to confirm anything at this time.”

This marks Jisoo’s first solo comeback in nearly two years since her debut single album “ME” was released in 2023. The album’s title track, “Flower”, sparked a massive trend with the “Flower Challenge” and earned her numerous accolades, including nine music show wins, solidifying her popularity.

As the last BLACKPINK member to go solo, anticipation for Jisoo’s comeback is high. Previously, Jennie released her solo single “Mantra” in October last year, Lisa dropped “Rockstar” in June and is gearing up for a solo album titled “Alter Ego”, while Rosé unveiled her first full-length album “Rosie” in December.  

Before her solo music comeback, Jisoo will meet fans as an actress in the Coupang Play series “Newtopia”, set to premiere on February 7.The series blends romantic comedy with the zombie genre, offering a unique K-zombie experience.

This marks Jisoo’s return to acting after approximately three years, following her lead role in JTBC’s “Snowdrop”. After “Newtopia”, Jisoo is set to star in MBC’s upcoming drama “Monthly Boyfriend” and the film adaptation of “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint”.  

However, reactions towards Jisoo’s acting performance in “Newtopia” is so far rather ambiguous.

In addition to her solo and acting projects, Jisoo is expected to join BLACKPINK for group activities. YG Entertainment’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk has already announced plans for BLACKPINK’s comeback and a new world tour this year.
