On February 28, BLACKPINK’s Lisa released her solo album “Alter Ego”, alongside the MV for title track “Fxck Up The World” (Vixi Solo Version).

While the album itself has received mixed reviews, US singer-songwriter Madison Beer has shown support for Lisa and praised the female idol. However, Lisa is facing a second wave of criticisms, as she is accused of copying girl group XG in both the song and the concept.

In particular, a netizen made a comparison video between a rap part of Lisa in “Fxck Up The World” and a verse in XG’s “Woke Up”, as well as made comments alluding that Lisa copied XG.

Additionally, another netizen pointed out how Lisa wore an outfit similar to XG’s Jurin in the same MV, adding to the allegations.

However, many have come to Lisa’s defense, with some pointing out that it’s not strange to see pop idols wearing similar outfits, as fashion trends tend to be extremely present in pop culture. On top of that, the lyricist for Lisa’s “Fxck Up The World” used to work on XG’s “Woke Up” and “Howling”, which can explain the similarities. Moreover, the choreographer for the two songs is also the same person, so the “copying” allegation is likely to be the choreographer’s signature style.

Thus, many are slamming the netizens that accused Lisa of plagiarism, saying that they should do proper research before casting hate on idols.
