On September 11 (local time), BLACKPINK’s Lisa appeared at the 2024 VMAs (Video Music Awards) and delivered a performance of her two recent releases, “ROCKSTAR” and “New Woman”.

However, Lisa’s performance ended up facing accusations of lip-syncing, with various criticisms popping up on SNS sites. “She’s not even trying to lip sync properly”, “Lisa is very bad at lip syncing” – similar comments can be seen littered throughout platforms like X (formerly Twitter).

Nevertheless, several fans and netizens have stepped up to defend Lisa, pointing out that Lisa was singing live on a small backtrack.
They also shared a video filmed at the scene, which clearly proved that Lisa was singing live.
“Those who accused Lisa of lip-syncing should watch this video”, a netizen said, while another mocked the hater, saying, “Those people must be deaf if they think this is lip-syncing”.
On the other hand, this is Lisa’s 2nd time winning Best K-pop at the VMAs, following her win with the solo track “Money” in 2022.
