Rosé, member of BLACKPINK, shared insights about her family, career, and the inspiration behind her music during an interview on JTBC’s Newsroom.

On Feeling the Impact of Her Success

When asked if she realizes the magnitude of her popularity, Rosé said,“Since I’ve been working overseas every day, most of the reactions I’ve seen are online. However, when I arrived in Korea a few days ago, so many people came to greet me at the airport, and that’s when it truly hit me.”

She also mentioned the support from her BLACKPINK members, saying:

“When my song came out, Lisa video-called me, and we talked for two hours. The members often send me videos whenever they hear my music being played outside.”

“My dad only suggested I audition for the experience; he never imagined it would mean not being able to see me often. He sometimes says he misses me because of it.”

She credited her father for helping her discover her dream, saying:

It was because of his encouragement that I auditioned in Australia, and it turned out to be my calling. I’m so grateful for that.

Her Trainee Days and Motivation

Rosé also spoke about her trainee years:

“The company took good care of me, for which I’m very thankful. Being so far from home, I felt I had to make it. Even when I called my family crying, they told me, ‘Come back anytime—we just wanted you to have the experience.’ But I refused, saying I had to debut before returning.”
