On April 7, BoA apologized via the fan community Weverse, stating, “I apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable due to my careless words and immature behavior during the SNS live on April 5.”

She continued, “First of all, I have personally apologized to Park Na Rae for making inappropriate comments in her absence, and I’m grateful that she was so understanding.”

BoA added, “I’m also sorry for disappointing the fans who have supported me for so long despite my shortcomings. I will take this incident as a chance to reflect deeply and will try to be more mindful of the weight of my words and actions moving forward.”

Previously on April 5, BoA and Jun Hyun Moo had a casual SNS live stream where they drank and chatted with followers. BoA slurred her speech, leaned on Jun Hyun Moo’s shoulder and touched his cheek, showing comfortable skinship. However, what drew the most backlash was her mention of Park Na Rae.

When a follower asked “Are you really dating Park Na Rae?”, BoA answered before Jun Hyun Moo could, saying, “I don’t think they’re dating” and “They can’t date.” Shocked, Jun Hyun Moo responded, “Why? Do you feel sorry for Park Na-rae?” BoA replied, “No, I feel sorry for you.”

Looking uneasy, Jun Hyun Moo asked, “Will this be okay?” BoA nonchalantly replied “I think I’m more suited to Afreeca TV”, brushing it off coolly. The clip quickly spread across online communities, SNS and YouTube, escalating the controversy and prompting BoA’s apology.

While BoA faced widespread disappointment from fans and the public, criticism toward Jun Hyun Moo is also mounting.

Many point out that he allowed disrespectful remarks about a colleague from “I Live Alone” and other shows without correcting or stopping them. Additionally, since it was his first-ever live broadcast, most viewers tuned in through his account. This has led to a flood of critical comments on his posts.

Netizens commented, “It was uncomfortable to watch them drunk”, “It looks like they’re either dating or at least flirting. Why be so obvious? A drunk live at home in the middle of the night, seriously?”, “Hyun Moo, I’m disappointed you said nothing when your long-time coworker was being talked about like that” and “What was your intention?”

Jun Hyun Moo, once praised as a “trend-sensitive man”, may have taken the trend too far — and ended up bringing controversy upon himself.
