Broadcaster Seo Yu-ri Faces Harsh Criticism After Mourning the Death of Late Actress Kim Sae-ron

On February 17, Seo Yu-ri, a voice actress and broadcaster, expressed her sorrow by posting on social media, “Why did you leave this world…” While she did not explicitly mention Kim Sae-ron, the post came shortly after the news of Kim Sae-ron’s death on February 16, suggesting that Seo Yu-ri was mourning her passing.

However, Seo Yu-ri faced unexpected online criticism, with one netizen commenting, “Your attitude is disgusting. I think you’ll be next. There’s a limit to how much you can expose yourself.” Seo Yu-ri shared the message on her own account, captioning it “???” in disbelief.

Previously, Kim Sae-ron was found dead in her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul on February 16. A friend who was supposed to meet Kim found her unresponsive and alerted the police. The police later confirmed that Kim Sae-ron had taken her own life, and the case is being treated as a death by suicide. 

Kim Sae-ron’s funeral was held on February 17 at the Seoul Asan Hospital in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Several of her colleagues, including actresses Han So-hee and Kim Bo-ra, visited to pay their respects. Actor Won Bin, who had worked with Kim Sae-ron on the movie “The Man from Nowhere”, sent a condolence wreath to express his sympathy. 

In 2022, Kim Sae-ron caused a car accident in Gangnam, Seoul while driving unconsciously, resulting in her crashing into a street tree and a transformer. She was fined 20 million won and faced a period of self-reflection.

Despite her efforts to make a comeback in the entertainment industry, her attempts were unsuccessful, and it was reported that she struggled financially while dealing with significant penalties for breaching contracts worth hundreds of millions of won.
