BTS and Director Bong Joon-ho Featured in Korean Election Exit Poll Countdown: “Let’s Take One Step Further”

On June 3, MBC aired its election coverage themed “Back to Democracy, Choice 2025,” utilizing AI-powered visuals to blend Korea’s past struggles for democracy with its modern cultural milestones. At 7:58 PM, as Korea’s three major networks — KBS, MBC, and SBS — prepared to reveal joint exit poll results, familiar faces from Korea’s cultural elite filled the screen.

Footage of BTS’s leader RM was shown delivering his iconic 2018 speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. His quote, “Instead of dreaming while looking at the stars, let’s all take one more step forward,” was used to inspire voters and reflect on Korea’s evolving role in the global arena.

Bong Joon-ho’s historic Oscar moment from the 92nd Academy Awards was also aired, recalling when Parasite swept four major categories and made history as the first non-English language film to win Best Picture. His inclusion underscored the unity between cultural achievement and civic responsibility.
The segment captured the hearts of viewers, blending art, music, and political engagement in a uniquely Korean narrative.
Meanwhile, the joint exit poll results showed Lee Jae-myung in the lead with 51.7%, followed by Kim Moon-soo with 39.3%, marking a 12.4-point gap. Other candidates trailed significantly, with Lee Jun-seok at 7.7%, Kwon Young-kook at 1.3%, and Song Jin-ho at 0.1%.
The poll, conducted by Korea Research, Ipsos, and Hankook Research International, surveyed over 80,000 voters at 325 polling stations nationwide and holds a ±0.8% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.

By featuring cultural icons like BTS and Bong Joon-ho in this civic moment, the broadcast reminded viewers that Korea’s path to democracy and global prominence is a shared journey — one that requires every citizen to “take one more step forward.”
