BTS V’s Military Journey: Overcoming Injury, Bulking Up to 70kg, and Missing Fans

Warm April Update for Fans
On April 30, BTS’s V shared several photos on his Instagram story, including images of him exercising and cherry blossoms, giving fans a glimpse into his daily life. Along with the cherry blossom photos, V posted “cherry blossoms” and then added “one more time,” sharing two more photos, expressing his longing for the passing spring and his desire to enjoy the season with his fans.

The cherry blossom photos evoked warm emotions, while the images of V working out presented a contrasting mood, adding to the fun of viewing.
V still showcased his strong arm muscles, but as he had mentioned before, his face appeared slightly thinner, as he had been managing his weight through dieting before his military discharge. He had previously shared that he weighed 62kg before enlistment, reached his goal weight of 86kg during his service, and had lost 10kg in preparation for his discharge. The place where V was exercising is also where singer Kim Jong-kook films his YouTube channel “Gym Jong-kook,” leading fans to express their hopes for V to appear on the channel after his discharge.

As soon as V updated his fans, “KIM TAEHYUNG” quickly became the number one worldwide trending topic, sparking a hot response. V’s name also appeared on real-time trends across various countries, solidifying his star power.
Longing for ARMY in March
Previously, on March 3, V posted a long message on Weverse. He shared an update on his military life, revealing that he has been promoted to Sergeant and recently became a Special Warrior. He worked out so intensely that he once broke a rib but has since recovered and is now on a diet at 70kg.

He also mentioned reading many books, adjusting to military life without insomnia, and struggling with early mornings.
V expressed his longing for ARMY, frequently watching concert videos and wanting to perform again. He humorously admitted forgetting the “Black Swan” choreography when a junior soldier asked him to check it. He also shared his recent entertainment picks, including “Buried Hearts” and “I Live Alone” with the appearance of J-hope.
Though saddened by missing BTS concerts, V ended on a heartfelt note, saying, “I miss you! I love you!”
Meanwhile, V enlisted in December 2023 and is currently serving in the Special Mission Unit of the Military Police (SDT). He is scheduled to be discharged on June 10.

It snowed. I cleared the snow. I had a snowball fight.
I’m good at snowball fights.
I have been promoted to Sergeant, Level 2. I’m ranked second here now. Soon, I’ll be number one.
Recently, I became a “Special Warrior.” I worked out hard.
I worked out so hard that I once broke a rib. But I recovered.
Right now, I’m on a diet. I weigh 70kg.
I’ve read a lot of books. Ina noona gave me many books.
She gave me too many. I can’t finish them all.
Here, I don’t have insomnia. When I lie down, I just pass out.
But waking up in the morning is something I can never get used to.
I miss ARMY a lot, so I watch a lot of concert videos.
I want to dance. I want to sing.
My junior soldier said he memorized the entire ‘Black Swan’ choreography and asked me to check it.
But I don’t remember it. I forgot the moves.
These days, I watch “Buried Hearts”. Actor Park Hyung-sik is really cool.
I also watched Jung Hoseok (J-hope)’s “I Live Alone”. He’s such a ‘Jung Ho-gam.’ (nickname for J-hope, means charming)
I’m really sad that I can’t attend the concerts. It’s a chance to see ARMY.
Oh, um… anyway, I miss you! I love you!
