On February 27, it was reported that the police have filed a criminal case against a Japanese woman in her 50s, who gave BTS member Jin a surprise kiss at a fan meeting event in June of last year, and have requested her attendance about 7 months after the incident. It is said that the suspect, who currently resides in Japan, has not yet given a definitive response to the police’s request.

Additionally, it was revealed that Jin will also be investigated. Regarding this, a police official stated, “We are currently reviewing the method and timing of the investigation of Jin as a victim, not as a witness.”

Meanwhile, previously on June 18, The Songpa Police Station in Seoul informed Korean media outlet TenAsia that the recent sexual harassment case involving BTS Jin is in the pre-investigation stage.

This is in response to a police report filed with regards to a hug event, where a fan attempted to sexually harass BTS’s Jin. At the time, Jin held a hug event with 1,000 fans as part of BTS’s 2024 FESTA. While most fans hugged Jin in an orderly manner, a fan attempted to suddenly kiss Jin and made other sudden actions, which sparked outrage among the BTS fandom.

On top of that, a user of X (formerly Twitter) posted a screenshot of a Japanese blog, and the woman who appeared to be the owner of the blog wrote about the situation at the time, saying, “His lips touched my neck. His skin was very soft.”

In response, the police sent an email to the Japanese blog in June of last year asking for the personal information of the user who posted this post, but received no response. In July of last year, the police requested international cooperation in the investigation from Interpol through the National Police Agency, and identified the suspect after about 7 months.
