Byun Woo-seok Reminisces About Modeling Days with Joo Woo-jae: Was Locked Up and Starved?
On February 27, ELLE Korea’s official YouTube channel uploaded a video titled “Mixing Byun Woo-seok’s Favorites. For Me, It’s Byun Woo-seok | ELLE KOREA.” The video featured Byun Woo-seok answering various questions.
When asked about his home care routine before an important shoot, Byun responded, “I try to get good sleep, but most of the time, I can’t. The more I think it’s important, the harder it is to sleep. I end up staying up all night watching dramas or movies and then go straight to filming. Just last night, there was a soccer match at 2:30 AM, and I thought, ‘I have to watch this!’ After that, I was wide awake and didn’t sleep until 6 AM.”
When asked what he would do if the world were ending tomorrow, he said, “I would meet my family and eat delicious food. My mom is amazing at making side dishes. My favorites are seasoned dried squid and stir-fried anchovies.”
Regarding his preference between puppies and chicks, Byun chose puppies, saying, “I thought I was a puppy person, but fans have posted photos and comments suggesting I look like a chick too. I think I have both qualities, but if I had to choose, I’d say I resemble a puppy more.”
Byun also shared his thoughts on goals for 2025, “I’d like to ask my fans what they want to achieve. I always try to stay positive and believe that I can do it. Even when facing setbacks or failures, I think those moments are actually when we grow the most. So, I hope everyone stays encouraged, and I truly believe that even if you experience setbacks, greater success will follow.”
Looking back at his modeling days, Byun recalled a past photo with Joo Woo-jae and laughed, saying, “Every time I see that picture with Woo-jae hyung, it’s so funny. I was really skinny back then. Woo-jae hyung says he just didn’t eat much, but people joked that I must have been locked up and starved. I think that was right after I came back from a Milan show. It’s funny but also reminds me of how hard I worked, so it’s a memorable moment for me.”
