Chae Jung-an Praises Positive Vibes of NewJeans, Shares Thoughts on Marriage
On September 20, SBS Power FM’s “Escape at 2:00 PM” (also known as “Cultwo Show”) aired with special DJ Baekga from Koyote, featuring guests Chae Jung-an and Brian in the “Don’t Do It!” segment.
On this day, when asked about the difference between the Chae Jung-an who appears on variety shows and the one her agency desires, she playfully responded, “Don’t you know?”
She continued, “I have a character, right? In dramas, I portray a chic woman with a cold demeanor, but in variety shows, I show the real Chae Jung-an. I have two identities. My stage name, Chae Jung-an, is for success, while my birth name, Jang Jung-an, is who I am. The company finds it hard when I return from variety shows; there’s a big gap. I’m like a racehorse. When it’s fun and exciting, I just run forward”.
When asked whether she is Chae Jung-an or Jang Jung-an today, she responded, “I’m sitting here as SBS’s daughter,” showcasing her charming personality.
Later, Baekga commented that she has a voice suited for radio DJing. When asked if she had considered becoming a DJ, Chae Jung-an revealed, “I have thought about it. The company said, ‘Going live carries a big risk,’ but I think I can do it now.”
Regarding her preferred radio broadcast time, she said, “I value gatherings, so I can’t do it after drinking. I need to cut back on drinking. Nights are nice, but it depends on the schedule. However, early mornings would be too tough.”
Chae Jung-an has been running her own channel for four years. “This morning, I checked, and I have 254,000 subscribers,” she boasted, noting that she actively posts beauty-related videos. “My friends say I’m persuasive, almost like multi-level marketing. I convey emotions directly. I meet unknown brands and help them succeed, which benefits both of us. Over the past four years, I’ve done a lot of good for other companies,” she asserted.
She added, “Some friends I work with also create content together. When we travel, my friends film everything. If I go with my elementary and middle school friends’ daughters, they explain, ‘This is how MZ generations behave.’ They teach me how to curl my hair, and I follow along. I even learned about the new trend of Dubai chocolate from my friend’s fifth-grade daughter.”
When asked if she plans to release an album like Um Jung-hwa, Chae Jung-an expressed that she isn’t particularly interested in releasing music but acknowledged, “I gain a lot of inspiration from watching Um Jung-hwa’s journey,” showing her respect. She also mentioned her interest in the girl group NewJeans, “I was a solo artist, but I wonder how much fun it would be if I were in a group. I love dancing and want to dance a lot.”
Chae Jung-an confessed, “The dances on broadcasts seem unwanted by those around me, so I dance alone in alleys.” She added humorously, “Now that I’m older, people want to see my age, which is annoying. I don’t want to struggle to get in.”
Later, she shared her story of not dating for ten years after a first love breakup, saying, “When you don’t date, you start to feel the advantages of being alone more. But there are definitely reasons why happy people are together. I don’t want to get married, but I think the institution of marriage is healthy. Those who do it well really do it well.”
