They referenced a line from the drama where middle-aged Ae-sun (played by Moon So-ri) says to Gwan-sik (played by Park Hae-joon) “I want to go to Zhangjiajie in the fall to see the fallen leaves”, expressing their gratitude to the production team.

In response, netizens pointed out that “When Life Gives You Tangerines” is not officially available in China, criticizing the invitation from Zhangjiajie as effectively confirming the drama was illegally viewed there.

Previously, Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University stated on March 20, “A review page for ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ has been created on Douban, a Chinese content review platform, with around 30,000 reviews posted.”

He emphasized that Netflix is not officially available in China, remarking, “It was the same with ‘Squid Game Season 2’. In China, illegal streaming has essentially become a daily routine.”
