On January 28th, the YouTube channel “Netflix Korea” uploaded a new video showing Choi Seung-hyun, also known as BIG BANG’s T.O.P, telling behind-the-scenes stories about his character Thanos in “Squid Game 2” and the filming of several scenes.

Regarding Thanos, Choi Seung-hyun said, “After many discussions with the director, I wanted to design and create a unique, never-before-seen character. I used gestures that are outdated and exaggerated to make viewers feel uncomfortable and unsure about whether they find him annoying or cringey”.

Explaining the scene in which Thanos did a rap, the actor said, “I’m really cringing”, adding “I’ve rapped for more than 20 years of my life, but I’ve never rapped for a woman to get her attention. So I was nearly losing my mind while filming this scene”.

Mentioning his discussions with the director about the kind of rap that Thanos would do, Choi Seung-hyun said, “We thought it resembled something you’d see online in social media clips. I wanted to make the rapping very intuitive and easy for others to follow”, adding “If he was good, it wouldn’t match the image of a failed rapper who joined the game”, emphasizing the reason behind Thanos’ clumsy rap.
