Choi Soo-young’s First Look Revealed in Hollywood Debut ‘Ballerina’

On May 31, Saram Entertainment’s official Instagram (@sarament_official) unveiled the first stills of Choi Soo-young in Ballerina, capturing the attention of global fans.

Ballerina is an action thriller set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, following Eve Macarro (played by Ana de Armas), who begins training as a traditional assassin of the Ruska Roma. Choi Soo-young portrays Katla Park, the daughter of Il-sung, an ally of the Ruska Roma.

Katla Park is a character protected by Eve Macarro, a ballerina and assassin, in a dance club scene. The stills released on this day feature the dance club setting, heightening anticipation.

Previously, Saram Entertainment’s Instagram shared an interview video with Choi Soo-young, where she discussed her role. She stated, “Katla Park appears in the fight scene at the club, which is a pivotal moment for Eve Macarro, marking the first time she breaks down and realizes she’s an assassin. I felt that Katla Park and this scene are crucial to Eve’s journey.” This comment sparked curiosity about the dance club sequence.

Choi Soo-young revealed that she was immediately drawn to the story upon reading the Ballerina script, saying, “Though it’s an action film, I was impressed by how it portrays the relationship between a father and daughter. I love my family dearly, and family means everything to me, so the story resonated deeply.” She expressed her affection for the project and her character.

To immerse herself in Katla Park, Choi Soo-young created specific backstories, “I imagined it was Katla’s birthday and a defining moment when her career dreams were coming true—a day full of celebrations. She likely believed only success and happiness awaited her. This backstory helped me express her fear, desire to survive, and complex emotions.”

Regarding her co-star Ana de Armas, Choi Soo-young praised, “She’s a wonderful person who made me feel like part of the team. As an actress, her ability to fully immerse herself in her character is remarkable, something evident in her previous work.”

Meanwhile, Ballerina, starring Choi Soo-young, is set for a U.S. release on June 6, 2025, and a confirmed domestic release in South Korea in August 2025.
