After Coldplay‘s second concert at Goyang Sports Complex on the 18th, a female attendee posted on an online community highlighting issues with the traditional “Ganggangsullae” circle dance.

Coldplay Concert Ganggangsullae Controversy

She wrote:

A lot of people were doing Ganggangsullae near the back of the standing area today.
While I was watching because it seemed fun, several men repeatedly grabbed me and my friend’s wrists and tried to pull us in (we never indicated we wanted to join; in fact, we stepped back). We were so startled that we told them we didn’t want to join, but other men tried the same thing three or four more times.
If you didn’t come to the concert for Ganggangsullae, please refrain from such actions. We didn’t come to a Coldplay concert to avoid Ganggangsullae.
The circle grew so large that we were pushed to the side several times and almost fell. If you want to do Ganggangsullae, please try it on a smaller scale. When it got too big, the firefighters had to disperse the group.

Netizens reacted with comments like, “It’s inconsiderate to force someone to join when they say no,” and “It’s dangerous and irresponsible to pressure others, accidents could happen.”
