Criminals Arrested for Blackmailing Famous Singer with Private Photos, Demanding 500 Million KRW
According to Channel A on March 19, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station arrested two men on March 17 for blackmailing Singer A and demanding approximately 500 million KRW (approximately 343,000 USD) in cash.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrators had come into possession of a mobile phone that Singer A had used in the past. Upon discovering personal data stored on the device, they attempted to use it as leverage to extort money.
After learning of the blackmail attempt, Singer A’s agency swiftly reported the case to the police. Law enforcement authorities acted quickly, launching an investigation that led to the suspects’ arrest within one week. They were taken into custody at an undisclosed location in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.
Further inquiries revealed that one of the arrested individuals had a history of involvement with a notorious criminal gang. Meanwhile, another accomplice involved in the scheme remains at large, with police actively tracking their whereabouts.
Law enforcement officials have vowed to take strict action against such criminal activities, emphasizing the severity of blackmail cases involving high-profile figures. Meanwhile, efforts to track down the remaining suspect are ongoing, with police urging the individual to surrender before facing even harsher legal consequences.
