Regarding his participation, Ahn Sung-jae shared, “I never thought we had to show something entertaining or scripted. When discussing with the production team, I insisted that there shouldn’t be any exaggerated or scripted elements for the sake of fun.”

He added, “I take food very seriously, and I didn’t want the chefs to simply be entertainers. I hoped that the stubborn and passionate sides of the chefs would shine through, and that it would create a fantastic program that benefits the restaurant industry.” He expressed gratitude for the production team’s understanding and support of his views.

When asked how he compared and judged the dishes from the “imokase” and fine dining categories, Ahn Sung-jae explained, “I aimed to judge based on the type of cuisine. For everyday meals, I integrated my understanding as an expert into the public’s standards. For fine dining concepts, I evaluated what techniques were used and how well they aligned with the chef’s intentions, as well as the sophistication of those techniques.”

Ahn Sung-jae also shared his thoughts on a potential Season 2, “I’ll think about it when the time comes. It has to align with the right timing and conditions.”

In addition, when asked if he would accept the offer to appear on another global cooking survival show, the chef responded, “I always say this, but when asked to appear on a show like that, I’ll see if my standards are met, and since my focus is on my cooking career, I’ll have to see if my schedule matches up. If those standards and the timing are right and I have something to contribute, then of course I’ll consider the offer.”
