YG just updated its list of affiliated artists right after introducing the new rookie, BABYMONSTER
Recently, YG officially introduced their new female rookie, BABYMONSTER, seven years after BLACKPINK’s debut. Information about the new girl group has been widely discussed on various media platforms. On the other hand, many fans noticed new changes on YG’s website. On the morning of November 27th, the list of affiliated artists was updated with several surprising details.
Firstly, G-Dragon officially parted ways with his former management company. YG removed his name and image from the website. This move is understandable, especially after YG entertainment distanced itself from G-Dragon amid drugs related scandal.
Removing G-Dragon’s name implies that there are currently no BIGBANG members under YG. Previously, T.O.P had completed his exclusive contract and announced his departure from the group. Daesung and Taeyang both found new paths after leaving YG at the end of 2022. However, YG still keeps BIGBANG’s profile on the artist list. With no remaining members, the activities of BIGBANG seem to be indefinitely frozen. Yet, YG seems reluctant to bid a complete farewell to BIGBANG, while other groups like 2NE1 and iKON have long disbanded or announced their disbandment.
Beside, YG also removed profile of WINNER’s JINU, who earlier debuted as solo artist under YG Entertainment and as an actor under YG Stage. As WINNER members are on hiatus to fulfill their military service, some fans think that JINU has also ended his contract with YG but still is a member of WINNER.
BABYMONSTER has been added as the newest member of the “YG Family.” Although the rookie group’s debut hasn’t made a big impact in terms of achievements, it once again brings BLACKPINK’s name to the top of search rankings. YG’s updates on artist situations continue to raise questions about contract renewals and ongoing negotiations with members.
In the financial report on November 14th, YG mentioned that contracts with the members are under negotiation. The group’s profile and those of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé are still present. As the group that has contributed significantly to the company’s revenue in recent years, any information related to BLACKPINK could impact stock prices. Until now, the contract situation between BLACKPINK and YG has not reached a final conclusion, despite constant speculation from the Korean media regarding the global girl group’s future.
