“Dark Nuns” Song Hye-kyo “I’ll Work Hard to Become the Goddess of Genres, Jeon Yeo-been is My Savior”

On December 16, the press conference for the film “Dark Nuns” was held at CGV I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were director Kwon Hyuk-jae and cast members Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Jin-wook and Moon Woo-jin, who introduced the film to the audience.
“Dark Nuns” tells the story of individuals who engage in a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. It is the second installment following the 2015 cult classic “The Priests”, which attracted 5.44 million viewers and set a new standard for Korean occult cinema. This sequel captivates attention with its unique premise of nuns without exorcism authority daring to perform a forbidden rite.

Song Hye-kyo, who received widespread acclaim for her powerful performance in the global hit series “The Glory”, takes on the role of Sister Junia, a nun determined to save the boy by any means necessary. This marks yet another transformation in her acting career.
Reflecting on her “The Glory” experience, Song Hye-kyo shared, “I received so much love that I felt pressure about what my next project should be.“
She explained, “Performing in a genre work was fun and intriguing for me. After that, I found myself leaning more toward genre works when reading scripts.”
Calling “Dark Nuns” a special “destiny”, Song Hye-kyo expressed her excitement, “I’m looking forward to seeing a new side of myself through this role.”
When MC Park Kyung-lim asked if she aspired to become the “Goddess of Genres”, Song Hye-kyo replied, “I still have a long way to go, but I’ll work hard to earn that title.”
Song Hye-kyo also shared her trust and admiration for her co-star Jeon Yeo-been. Jeon Yeo-been plays Sister Michaela, who decides to become one of the titular “dark nuns” to assist Sister Junia in the forbidden ritual.

Song Hye-kyo said, “I was thrilled to hear Jeon Yeo-been had been cast. I’ve always wanted to work with her, especially since many actors I’m close to are friends with her and only had great things to say.”
She continued, “Acting with her on set exceeded my expectations. While Jeon Yeo-been says I gave her strength, I actually gained more strength from her.”
Song Hye-kyo affectionately added, “Jeon Yeo-been is my savior. Without Michaela, Junia couldn’t have done it alone.“
“Dark Nuns” is set to premiere on January 24.
