WJSN’s Dayoung Sparks Controversy by Posting Story Suggesting Starship Forgot Her Birthday

Recently, WJSN’s Dayoung sparked controversy after sharing a screenshot from Starship Entertainment’s official Instagram.
The agency posted a birthday greeting for KiiiKiii’s Jiyu on May 14 but notably omitted any birthday wishes for Dayoung, who shares the same birthday. This absence led fans and observers to speculate that Dayoung was expressing disappointment toward Starship for overlooking her special day.

Further fueling the speculation, Dayoung posted an Instagram Story featuring a hamster character alongside the idiom “Tosagupang (兎死狗烹)”, which translates to “once the rabbit is caught, the hunting dog is cooked.” This phrase implies being valued only when useful and discarded afterward. Many fans interpreted this as a public expression of frustration with Starship Entertainment. After the post attracted attention, Dayoung quickly made the story private.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns surrounding WJSN’s inactivity. The group has not had official activities since their single album release in July 2022, marking nearly two years without a comeback. Although eight members renewed their contracts in March 2023 after the departure of Chinese members and some others, official group promotions remain on hold.

In February 2025, WJSN released a 9th anniversary video featuring some members together, but this was not an official comeback or group activity. While individual members continue to engage in fan events and seasonal greetings, fans remain disappointed over the prolonged silence and lack of new group projects.

As Dayoung’s subtle message gains traction, many supporters hope Starship Entertainment will address the group’s status and renew efforts to bring WJSN back to the spotlight.
