DJ Koo Jun-yup Loses 12kg After Wife Barbie Hsu’s Death, Cared for by Sister-in-Law Dee Hsu
On April 4, several Chinese-language media outlets including Sohu reported, “After laying Barbie Hsu to rest, Koo Jun-yup has not appeared in public. He has lost about 12kg and cries every day.”
In an effort to comfort him, Barbie Hsu’s younger sister and TV personality Dee Hsu, along with her family, has been inviting Koo Jun-yup for weekly dinners. The report stated, “In Taiwan, he had only one close friend by his side. With no immediate family nearby, he has been enduring immense grief alone.”
Koo Jun-yup is said to have suspended all professional activities and is now dedicating himself to creating a statue in memory of Barbie Hsu. While the statue is still under development, it is rumored that a spot for it has already been reserved at Jinbaoshan Cemetery.
Koo Jun-yup and Barbie Hsu dated briefly in 1998 before breaking up. Barbie Hsu later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, with whom she had a son and a daughter. After their divorce in 2021, Koo Jun-yup reached out to her again, leading to their reunion and marriage in 2022.
Tragically, Barbie Hsu passed away from acute pneumonia on February 2 while on a trip to Japan, leaving fans and loved ones devastated.
